Q: What ties you to Vancouver - and how can shoppers see that reflected in your designs?Ī: I’m a B.C. We offer a line of basics, available throughout the year and change up our limited-edition pieces as necessary.Ī lot of our clients view these as “collector” pieces, adding them to their wardrobe each season. All our fabrics are dyed to order so we also don’t have excess product/last season’s stock left over. The process is called “exhausting” the dye bath, so that all dye particles bond with the fabrics and the water is clear when the bath is finished. We are able to add the correct amount of dye so as not to waste or put dye particles, heavy chemicals or toxins down the drain. This allows us to carefully control how much dye we add to each bath. What can you share about that?Ī: We hand-dye all our fabrics in small production. Q: Your designs have an eco-friendly aspect to them. Q: What ís the price point of Daub+Design pieces?Ī: Seamless Panties: From $20 (for seamless panties) to $128 (for custom scarves). ![]() ![]() The Daub + Design girl is style-conscious and often integrates great, one-of-a-kind pieces into a classic wardrobe.Ī: I love working with my hands and the esthetic that can be achieved through careful colour choices and technique. She is aware of the world around her and seeks to support local companies where possible. She loves yoga, running, Pilates, stand-up paddling, reading a good book, snuggling up watching a movie, going for dinner with friends or hanging out with her family. She looks for value in the garments she purchases that will last beyond one season, so she loves that our fabrics wick moisture, keep the body cool, won’t pill and feel luxurious on. She wants a garment that will fit into the daily activities of her life and moves with her. She’s running from an early morning workout to work to lunch out with the girls and onto a night on the town. Q: Who do you design for - who is the ultimate Daub+Design customer?Ī: The Daub + Design girl is always happiest on the go. Q: How would you describe the Daub+Design esthetic?Ī: It’s sophisticated style for the free spirit with modern tie-dye (that is) hand-dyed in colourful patterns. They are drawn in by the esthetic but fall in love with the quality and feel of the fabric. Our customers purchase multiples of our leggings because they often can’t decide which colour they love more. It also doesn’t look like a yoga pant, so it can be dressed up with flats, boots or heels. The waistline sits higher than a traditional yoga pant - with the wide fabric waistband, which allows it to stay in place while the body bends and moves throughout the day. We know everyone leads busy lives and we’re adding style to a practical product for higher value. Our leggings are made to fit both an active lifestyle or fashion lover’s wardrobe. It allows people to be unique and stand out. Our clients love that each piece turns out a little different - and it keeps my job as a dyer interesting! We work with local sewers in limited runs, which allows us to continue producing one of a kind, high quality items. ![]() Q: What is it about Daub+Design that makes it different from other lifestyle clothing brands such as Lululemon?Ī: We really focus on small production that is designed, produced and hand-dyed in Vancouver. Colour and pattern are my inspiration, so I began playing around with fabrics that suited the garments.
